    Queen Mary Take to Pieces Model. This is one of her most sought after pieces! A cardboard model of the liner 12″ in length. Two screws hold the 12 decks into place. When the screws are loosened, you can remove the decks. Each deck has the Deck Plan of that deck printed on in full color! A chart is included with the descriptions of 240 points numbered on the model. The key chart states that two ordinary long pins make effective masts if pushed into the decks at the points marked. Measures 9×12″. Contains four sets of fold out Deck Plans: SCOTIA, ABYSSINIA / ALGERIA, RUSSIA, BOTHNIA / SCYTHIA. There are plates with illustrations of the following: SCOTIA, ABYSSINIA, RUSSIA, BOTHNIA. (Note: The “Scotia” was the last of Cuanrd’s Paddle-Wheel steamships. She was also the most powerful of all of the paddle-wheelers.) There are two fold out track charts: For Atlantic Routes and for Mediterranean Routes. There is a complete fleet listing of Cunard ships with very obscure old ships: Java, Marathon, Olympus, Saragossa, Kedar, Buffalo, Raven, Bear, Alpha, among many others. (For example the MALTA was on the Mediterranean & Havre service, was built in 1865 and was 2132 tons and carried 40 cabin passengers, and 558 in steerage. ) Various texts including a Company History and a text “Transatlantic Trips”. Additional texts of Liverpool, London & Paris. There are several notices, fares, a sample Bill of Fare and a Wine List with Prices. Specially prepared ads. There are also some essays, which were customary in the period, including one on the Whiskey Frauds. Nice red covers with gold edge pages. This was a high quality production. Book is complete, with all pages intact. Binding is worn at the spine, but otherwise Very Good Condition. Writing on first blank page with original owners name and dated 1877.     Souvenir metal memo book. 2 x 2.75″. A wonderful starboard bow likeness of the ship is embossed on the cover. The back cover has the HAPAG Line flag as well as wording “Souvenir of My Ocean Trip”. When the mechanical pencil is removed, the cover springs up to reveal a booklet of blank memo paper. None of the paper was ever used. Very nice condition. There is some tarnish on the outside- possibly silver plate. The inside workings of the pencil is missing. These were made c1905 and are highly desired souvenirs of the early German ships.

    “Die Siegesfahrt der BREMEN” by Kommodore Ahrens. Rare original German book from 1940 about the world’s fastest passenger ship at the time the BREMEN. The Bremen was in New York, when WW2 broke out. The successful return to Germany became a huge cause celeb for the ship and its captain. There are 30 photographs within the book. Photos are mostly of the ship, Captain & crew in various parts of the ship. The book is hardback and has 179 numbered pages. It measures 8 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. German text. Even contains text of a message from Goering and others with the mandatory “Heil Hitler” greeting. Despite the escape from NY and the British fleet on the way back to Germany, the Bremen was destroyed by the Allies in an air raid in 1941.
